Obesity: A Serious Health Risk

Obesity is a dangerous condition that can significantly shorten a person’s life. To protect the heart and overall health, it is essential for someone who is obese to follow a healthy diet and reduce their weight according to their height. Excess fat builds up over time, making movement difficult and putting strain on the heart’s function. An obese person is at higher risk of serious health problems and often has a shorter lifespan compared to a person with a healthy weight.

The issue becomes even more alarming when it affects children, from primary school to high school, who can become more than 100 kilograms overweight relative to their height.

It can also prevent individuals from properly caring for their hygiene because they cannot reach certain parts of their body. Special attention should be given to obese women, as they are at greater risk of developing breast cancer.

A Harvard study published online warns that obesity could soon become one of the leading causes of cancer, surpassing even smoking in its dangers.

Families must support and help prevent malnutrition and anorexia, especially since this condition is more common in girls from wealthy, educated families. Anorexia affects both physical and mental health.
